Why Oxford? The town is a small one after all, with only around 25,000 residents. It’s home to Ole Miss and was the home of William Faulkner, whose influence still looms large in a town filled with writers. But for us, Oxford is a place to eat. Think fried catfish and shrimp and grits, sweet corn croissant doughnuts and Indian chaat. A place to drink homegrown gins made with rice and magnolia blossoms, sip bourbon and toast with cheap beers. It’s a place where you meet someone and soon you’re exchanging contact info to meet up down the road. Oxford is centered on the Square, with restaurants and shops encircling the white-steepled Lafayette County Courthouse, and if you stay nearby, you can walk nearly anywhere you want to go.
